Very nice post, I found that out as well. I am using this code as a default for every class that gets added to a stage.
public function SomeClassConstructor(stageInit:Boolean = true)
{
	if (stageInit) addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init, false, 0, true);
}

public function init(event:Event = null):void
{
	removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init);
}
The Flashforward conference is a great opportunity for those in the field. It is great for inspiration. Unfortunately, it seemed people were jsut not satifisfied.

However...

After attending the conference not having any background in Flash, except for tid-bits here and there, I realize there are so many possibilities with what one can do with flash and that each person has their own relationship with it. Therefore, I think it is inevitable that there are people who walk away dissatisfied.

I overheard many attendees talking and I heard the chatter of wanting more code or more design.
Some people were upset they paid so much to travel to San Francisco and did not get what they wanted. Those, however, were usually the people who have travelled to this conference before. It seemed that many of those who travelled for the first time thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Maybe the conference could have had a day for code or a day for design or geared it this way or that. However, it is designed for a FIELD. That would be FLASH. And the more I think about it I think, "Well this conference is a great way to get those who are passionate about the field to come together and it is a great method of influence." I just think that people didn't know what to do with themselves once that happened. Yes, speakers were lined up, but there wasn't a great opportunity to introduce yourself to another. Oh wait, unless that was what the Ruby Skye Party was for. hmmmm.
